A mell of a hess

I put my camera through the wash. Despite my best efforts to revive it, it is dead. but if i did have a camera, and I wasn't panicking i would have taken a picture very similar to this when I was so rudely awoken by a loud noise at 3:30 a.m.this morning:

Yep, my bathroom was flooding and i panicked. When things are calm i could tell you right off the bat where the water shut off is. but in the middle of the night, woke from a very deep sleep, and home alone, as well as having 4+ inches of water swirling at my feet i panicked. I tried calling my upstairs neighbor for help. He didn't answer. I rang his doorbell and the guys across the halls numerous times. Still no answer. All the while my bathroom and hallway are filling up with even more water. Finally I pulled out the ward directory, said a little prayer that someone would answer. i called Mike across the hall. He came to my rescue! He shut the water off, and then we began shoveling the water into the shower and sink with cups. We got this all done and decided there was nothing else we could do until a reasonable hour when I could call my landlord and notify him. The carpet was (and still is) soaking wet. when we stepped on it it would seep up around your foot. My landlord rented a vacuum and vacuumed up 6 inches of water. And the carpet is still soaking wet, so now we have a really loud industrial fan blowing on carpet that has been pulled up. sleeping is not going to be easy tonight, or maybe it will be since i only got 3 hours last night. I am hoping for the latter, where i just crash and the noise doesn't bother me. It was just so random. I can't believed it happened.
Letter to Mike:
Dear Mike, I am really sorry for the early morning wake up call. But Thank you SOO much for your help.
